Lynne Featherstone new violence against women champion

The coalition government today launched a strategic vision of how they plan to tackle violence against women and girls.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

For the first time the strategy brings together work to tackle violence against women in the UK with details of the international approach to tackle this global problem - including that Home Office Minister Lynne Featherstone has been appointed Overseas Champion to lead on the UK’s international work.

International Development Secretary Andrew Mitchell said:

“Lynne Featherstone’s appointment helps demonstrate the coalition’s commitment to taking action on violence against women around the world. The coalition are putting women and girls at the heart of all of our work to tackle global poverty and I look forward to working with Lynne on her important new role of International Violence Against Women Champion”
