Development Dilemmas: Challenges of Working in Conflict and Post Conflict situations in South Asia
4 April 2007
On 5-6 March 2007 DFID Asia hosted a conference entitled ‘Development Dilemmas: Challenges of Working in Conflict and Post Conflict situations in South Asia’ at Church House Westminster, London.
The conference brought together representatives from national governments, parliamentarians, and civil society from Nepal, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, and international donors supporting these countries.
It provided an opportunity to share lessons and experience in a neutral venue, and to re-vitalise and better harmonise donors’ and national efforts in pursuit of peace. The conference placed a particular emphasis on how donors and national actors can work more effectively to support country-led peace processes and sustainable conflict transformation.
This report captures some of the key thoughts, ideas, discussions and outcomes of the landmark conference. Please have a look, and if you have any comments to make please send them to s-sharma@dfid.gov.uk .
