Launch of the London International Development Centre and DFID's Research Strategy - Speech by Douglas Alexander

Speaking at the Institute for Education to an audience of leading development researchers, Secretary of State for International Development Douglas Alexander congratulated the Bloomsbury colleges of the University of London on the official launch of their joint venture for development research - the London International Development Centre.

He also launched the Department for International Development's new five-year Research Strategy and outlined DFID's commitment to making sure that research delivers tangible benefits for the world's poorest people.
