Ethical Trading - Shaping a New Agenda
The momentum for ethical trade is building, with both citizens and companies responding in the UK.
The Ethical Trading Initiative's Base Code on labour standards is used by 20,000 suppliers around the world.
Yet the ILO says that 12.3 million people worldwide are still subject to forced labour.
DFID looks at putting workers centre stage in the establishing Codes of Conduct, and at how companies can marry the commercial and the ethical in their decision-making. Partnership approaches involving government, business, NGOs and trade unions stand to benefit everybody.
