Results of Development Awareness Fund 2008 Competition
8 May 2008
26 new projects agreed – meaning 83 projects to run this year
We are pleased to announce that the DFID Building Support for Development
(BSD) Team have completed
assessment of the applications received for the DAF 2008 Competition.
As with previous rounds, competition was intense and demand on the Fund far
outweighed the funding available. The BSD Team appraised 109 applications from
100 different civil society organisations and agreed funding for 26 new
projects. The following applications were successful, subject to negotiation of
financial and other arrangements and the usual DFID approval procedures:
Applicants have been informed about the results of their applications. The
BSD Team will now be in touch with successful applicants to negotiate financial
and other arrangements. Unsuccessful applicants will receive comprehensive
feedback on their proposals.
We would like to thank all those who submitted applications.
DFID principally supports activity outside the UK. However, as part of the
process of building awareness and understanding of development issues within the
UK, the Development Awareness Fund has been established to help civil society
organisations whose work aligns with DFID's strategy paper,
Building Support for Development (106
kb). Funding is available for discrete projects.
DFID contributions from £10,000 to £100,000 per annum towards the total
project costs can be considered under the fund. 100% total project costs, up to
a maximum of £100,000 per annum, for a maximum of 3 years.
Please note that the DAF criteria and guidelines for the 2009/10 funding
round will be available by Friday 30 May 2008.
