Other Aid Effectiveness Information
Joint Donor Voice and Accountability Evaluation (BMZ, Danida, DFID, Norad, Swiss, Belgium and Sida): In 2006, DAC donor partners began a joint evaluation of ‘Voice and Accountability’ programmes. Voice and Accountability interventions focus on the relationship between citizens and the state, and as such, they lie at the heart of the (good) governance, pro-poor agenda. Following on from the recently published Evaluation Framework and Methodology, the next in this series of publications, the Literature Review is now available. Country Case studies will be undertaken shortly, culminating in a Synthesis Report in May 2008. For further information contact Clare Harkin e-mail: (c2-harkin@dfid.gov.uk).
Uganda to launch pilot scheme to tackle poverty: DFID has supported the Uganda government in the design of a cash transfer pilot targeting the chronically poor. The pilot will aim to reduce the poverty gap among the poorest 10% of the population, increase school attendance and use of health facilities. Many of the target population are elderly, disabled, child headed households and widows. DFID will provide £4 million for the 3 year pilot phase, to trial targeting and delivery mechanisms, monitor impact, and to secure public support and political buy-in. A number of other development partners are supporting the approach, including World Bank, UNICEF and Help Age International.
