DFID Shared Scholarship Scheme

DFID support for the Shared Scholarship Scheme was introduced in 1986. It aims to assist high quality students who wish to pursue studies relevant to development issues, but who could not otherwise afford to do so. Awards are mainly for postgraduate study for a maximum of two years. From the available DFID budget (£2 million per annum), it is possible to allocate on average 200 awards, using matched contributions from around 56 participating UK Universities. Subjects of study must be related to the economic, social and technological development of the student’s home country.
