Development Awareness Fund

The Development Awareness Fund decisions for 2008-9 have been made and successful applicants informed. We would like to thank everyone who took the time and made the effort of applying to the fund. A full list of projects to be funded are available to view through the "Additional Information" link below.

The DAF Guidelines for 2009-10 funding round are available below. The main changes to the application process are:

  • Concept Notes must be submitted on the new DAF Concept Note Application Form.
  • Project Frameworks are now mandatory.

Whilst we do not anticipate any significant changes please note that these might be updated in advance of the funding deadlines. Applicants are advised to check the Guidelines before submitting an application to the DAF. The DAF 2009/10 Application Form, Project Framework and Budget template for full proposals will be available here from 1 July 2008.

DAF Funding Seminars

Dates for the DAF funding seminars have now been set as follows:
London – Seminar designed specifically with BME groups in mind - 8 July 2008
Birmingham – Seminar for organisations interested in applying to the Development Awareness Fund - 11 July 2008.

If your organisation is interested in attending either of these DAF seminars, please send an e-mail, by 26th June at the latest, to dafseminars@tripleline.com  with the following details:

  • The date and location of the seminar you are interested in attending
  • Your organisation’s name
  • A paragraph describing your organisation and its interest in the DAF programme
  • The name(s) of the proposed participant(s)

DFID aims to ensure that all interested organisations are able to attend the DAF funding seminars, but if there is a high demand for places on the seminars, this may not be possible and/or the number of participants per organisation may need to be limited to one or two only.

Eligible organisations

The DAF is open to any UK-based not-for-profit organisation or network which shares our commitment to raising awareness and understanding of development issues.

Funding criteria

Activities aimed at promoting public knowledge and understanding of development issues. In particular:

  • Challenges and prospects for development and poverty reduction: Building long term knowledge and understanding of the major challenges and prospects for development, in particular the poverty reduction agenda.
  • Interdependence and the global consequences of poverty: Generating understanding of our global interdependence and in particular that failure to reduce global poverty levels will have serious consequences for us all.
  • International efforts to reduce poverty and promote development: Generating understanding of and support for international efforts to reduce poverty and promote development including the Millennium Development Goals. Promoting recognition of the progress so far made, and that further progress is affordable, achievable, and most of all vital.
  • The role of individuals in working towards poverty reduction: Promoting understanding of the role that individuals can play; enabling them to make informed choices with the knowledge of how their actions impact on the world around them.
