Somalia

Somalia has not had a functioning national government since 1991 when it descended into civil war, a situation that has been routinely exacerbated by climate-caused emergencies. The UN estimates that 2.6 million people in Somalia are now in need of humanitarian relief, compared to 1.5 million in 2007. Ongoing fighting has led to a drastic decline in security and social development, but the private sector has been remarkably resilient.
