DFID Sickness Absence Statistics

In common with other Civil Service departments, DFID is working to reduce it's sickness absence levels. Figures for Jan-Dec 2007 show DFID has reduced its average working day lost (per person per annum) figure from 5.0 to 4.4. We aim to reduce this further through better management of long term absence and of short term frequent absence and continued promotion of healthier lifestyles and ways of working.

Our key statistics for 1 January - 31 December 2007 are:-

Total average working days lost

4.4

Proportion of staff who had sick absence

39%

Proportion of all days lost to short term absence

59.4%

Proportion of all days lost to long term absence

40.6%
