About DFID photograph

Performance Management

In 2003, DFID was rated as the top performing UK Government department by a survey judged by a panel of former Ministers, Lords, MPs, senior civil servants, broadsheet columnists etc. Maintaining this level of high performance is important to our effort in tackling poverty. Measuring performance against your goals is important to check that the work being done is effective, and where improvements need to be made.

Having signed up to the internationally agreed Millennium Development Goals, DFID has clear targets to work towards. To evaluate our performance against these goals and to understand how we can improve, DFID is scrutinised internally and externally. This is explained in the links below:

  • DFID Stakeholder Survey 2008(370 kb)
DFID's first ever stakeholder survey has resulted in broadly positive feedback, delivering the message that DFID's staff and their expertise are the department’s biggest assets.
