Recruitment policies

DFID recruits people with relevant qualifications and experience interested in supporting Britain's development programme in the UK and overseas. The selection process is guided by the Civil Service recruitment principles, the use of which secure a fair, open and merit based recruitment process.

To work directly for DFID you must be:

  • a UK national
  • a national of a member state of the European Economic Area (EEA)
  • a Swiss or Turkish national, or
  • a Commonwealth citizen
