The Charles Kendall Group (CKG) was founded over 50 years ago. It has a long history of providing procurement and related technical assistance services, in an agency capacity, to clients world-wide. The CKG employs around 240 people based in a number of offices in the UK and overseas with approximately 60 people in the Head Office in Albert Court (immediately behind the Royal Albert Hall).

The main services provided are:

  • procurement
  • logistics
  • freight forwarding
  • export packing
  • consultancy
  • recruitment.

CKG Procurement and Freight Forwarding Services are both ISO9002 Accredited and CKG, through its European Grouping, European Project Consultants, is a member of FEDPRO, the Federation of Procurement Specialist Organisations. CKG successfully provides procurement and consultancy services to all the major development agencies, including DFID, EU and WB.

Experience

CKG procurement staff have between them completed procurement projects in over 75 countries worldwide, including projects for DFID in over 50. As a result they have detailed knowledge and experience in meeting DFID procurement requirements, whether for major projects or for urgent individual items. They understand the problems faced by TCOs and projects in remote locations and can be relied upon to effectively problem solve to ensure that clients needs are satisfied.

During the normal course of their operations they procure a vast range of stores and equipment for projects covering all sectors of economic activity. They are experienced in managing large complex procurement assignments involving the provision of procurement, logistics support and specialised project staff in-country where this is necessary.

Through their regional network of overseas offices they are able to provide local support to projects and regular liaison visits to project personnel.

In-house specialism

CKP are able to offer the complete range of procurement and related technical assistance services. Their procurement staff are fully familiar with DFID procedures and they have an extensive panel of experts whom they are able to call upon to provide technical support to the buying function, including areas such as preparation of technical specifications and the evaluation of specialised commodities and products. CKP are able to procure effectively across all sectors of economic activity.

The CK Group are one of the largest independent freight forwarders in the UK and as a result they have extensive resources to ensure the effective movement of cargo world-wide, whether by air, sea or overland. They also own a specialised export packing company which is of particular benefit to small companies that are unfamiliar with packing to export standards. This logistical in-house expertise gives greater control over the supply process.

Representational Offices are maintained in:

  • Africa: Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe
  • Middle East: Bahrain, Dubai, Oman, Qatar
  • Europe: Albania, Kosovo, Poland, Romania

All these offices can also undertake local and regional procurement.
