Rapid Response Facility FAQs

The application process to pre-qualify for the Rapid Response Facility has now closed. Applications are now being reviewed and the results will be announced by the end of the year.

Q: When will organisations know if their application to be pre-qualified for the RRF has been successful.

A: Organisations will be notified by the end of the year.

Q. How long should the answers to each question be?

A. The answer boxes in the form represent the proposed word limit - we are looking for detailed but succinct information and evidence. However, we understand that different agencies may have more or less information that they wish to include. We recommend you use the space provided as a guide.

Q. What documents do we need to submit to DFID? Is there an expectation that copies of all policies and documents referenced in the application should be provided?

A. None. All information should be contained within the application form. An answer such as 'refer to enclosed policy on security' will not be acceptable.

Q. Do you only want information from responses funded by DFID?

A. No, we're happy to accept information from responses funded from sources other than DFID funding.

Q. What if our organisations responses are still ongoing and data is not available for some questions?

A. Evidence and data can be provided from the last three responses completed, if there is insufficient data from ongoing responses.

Q. What template should be used for the economy section of question 21?

 A. We're happy for you to send in the budget as you would normally to DFID, either using your own organisation's template, or the template included on pages 30 and 31 of the red book Humanitarian Funding Guidelines for NGOs.

Q. If my organisation was unsuccessful in its RRF application, would it still be eligible to access funds outside of this facility? Would it count against us in any applications if we were not prequalified?

A. If your organisation's application was unsuccessful for the RRF, then you would still be eligible for funds from other DFID mechanisms. It would not count against your organisation for future funding proposals.

Q. When the RRF is activated, would organisations with a presence in a country or region affected be expected to apply?

A. Once the RRF is activated, DFID will look at which sectors to fund. Certain RRF organisations (with the sectoral expertise and geographic reach required) will than be asked to submit light-touch proposals (akin to concept notes).

Q. Would organisations be able to opt out of submitting an application due to, for example, lack of capacity in a particular country to respond?

A. Yes. If an organisation wished to opt out they would need to respond to the call for light-touch proposals stating, for example, that they didn't have the capacity and were not able to provide a response funded by DFID.

Q: What’s the deadline for applications?

Midnight on the 8 November. Completed applications should be sent by email to: Matthew Benson.
