The Energy and Environment Partnership Programme with Southern and East Africa (EEP-S&ES/EEP)

Project Focus

EEP supports innovative projects which provide renewable energy and/or implement energy efficiency solutions in Southern and Eastern Africa. EEP provides seed finance to cover start-up costs and bridge the gap between ideas and implementation and assists businesses to support themselves through the initial research and development stage, until they are able to secure additional financing.

EEP Programme is jointly funded by the Governments of Finland, Austria as well as DFID and started in March 2010.

Eligibility to Apply or Access Support

Applicants need to be registered with the appropriate registration body in country of operations.

The project needs to be in at least one of the following countries: Botswana, Burundi, Kenya, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. Regional proposals involving two/three partner countries are also welcome.
Each organisation can submit only one application for a given country.

The project implementation period is limited to 24 months.

All applicants are expected to make their own contribution to be eligible. The maximum amount requested can be no more than €300,000. The amount requested should be no more than 75% of the total project cost, and the total own contribution cost can be no less than 25%.

Application Process

Concept notes must be submitted via the online portal at www.eepafrica.org. Deadline for submission is the 10th October 2012 13h00 South African time (GMT+2), only online applications will be accepted.
