A2 Conflict Adviser, Conflict, Humanitarian and Security Dept. Working in the Conflict Institutions Team, which makes a significant contribution to delivering on two of DFID’s four Ministerial Priorities – Conflict and Fragility, and Reform of the International Institution - you will be responsible for working closely with DFID departments and country offices, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and the UK missions to the United Nations in New York and Geneva. | |
As a Senior Conflict Adviser, you will provide strategic leadership in shaping DFID’s and the UK government’s approaches to conflict. You will demonstrate an in-depth understanding of global, regional and local conflict trends, their implications, the role of multilateral agencies in addressing them, and the range of analytical and programmatic instruments that can be applied to reduce the risks of violent conflict. | |
DFID has established a Conflict Advisers cadre, to comprise a number of Advisers already in post, and others to be recruited. Conflict Advisers play different roles depending on the part of DFID in which they are working. In Conflict, Humanitarian and Security Department they are concerned with policy issues, general or specific. They provide advice to ministers and senior officials, and work on policy with other government departments and with international organisations. | |
