Europe: Call for evidence on EU development cooperation

21 February 2013

Update: Final weeks to have your say on the call for evidence on EU development cooperation and humanitarian aid.

DFID's call for evidence for the Balance of Competences Review will close at the end of next week, on 1 March 2013.

In our call for evidence for this review, we have already received evidence on a wide range of issues including the advantages and disadvantages of current EU policy making and implementation, the impact of changes brought by the Lisbon Treaty, and opportunities for reforming the current system to meet the demands of a changing landscape of international development.

You too could have your say.

The Government is carrying out a review of the balance of competences between the European Union and the United Kingdom. This is an audit of what the EU does and how it affects the UK.

DFID is leading on the report on Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid, and will contribute to the report on foreign policy, both running from autumn 2012 - summer 2013.

We have now published our Call for Evidence for the Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid Report.

We are looking for objective, factual information about the impact or effect of the competence in your area of expertise.

Anyone wishing to contribute to the review is asked to send their written views before 1 March 2013 to balanceofcompetence@dfid.gov.uk or fill in the online survey. You can also write to us at: Europe Department, Department for International Development, 1 Palace Street, London SW1E 5HE.

Find out more about the Balance of Competencies review in this briefing note and on the Europe Department and Foreign and Commonwealth Office's web pages.
