How much energy are we using?

12 July 2010

DFID has started publishing real-time information on energy and water use in its London headquarters building.

Real-time, online energy display is part of the government’s commitment to cut carbon emissions from central government by 10% in the next year.  As well as increasing transparency and greener government, it will drive efficiency and help to ensure we deliver value for money.

We collect information automatically from our meters and transmit this every half hour to a central data capture point. This is then updated online so that you can see how much energy and water we are using.

Find out about this and other ways in which we are tackling carbon emissions, recycling waste and reducing water and energy consumption.
