Speak out

The Secretary of State is always interested in the views of UK citizens and there are various ways you can make your voice heard.

Write to us

  • Respond to our online consultations on specific policy issues. On this site you can respond to open consultations or see the outcomes of previous consultations.
  • Write directly to DFID, or send a letter to your MP, and ask him or her to request a response from the Secretary of State. You can find out who your MP is and how to write to them on TheyWorkForYou (links on the right of this page).

Campaign

  • Sign, or even set up, an e-petition to the Government. E-petitions can be about anythng the government is responsible for and those that reach 100,000 signatures are eligible for debate in the House of Commons.
  • Join in with the campaigns of the many organisations calling for the UK and other governments to take strong action against extreme poverty. The Secretary of State listens and responds to all campaigns on UK development policy.
