Diploma in Teacher Education for Global Learning launch
The orange flames of a traditional oil lamp signifying good luck lit up the hall as academics from the University of Colombo, officials from the Sri Lanka Ministry of Education and Provincial Departments of Education, British Council and Global School Partnerships staff, and teachers, gathered for the official launch of the Diploma in Teacher Education for Global Learning at the British Council in Colombo.
The opportunity to exchange teaching methodologies with teachers in the UK through workshops and sharing learning resources has been available in Sri Lanka for a number of years through the GSP programme. But now the launch of the diploma, the first of its kind in Sri Lanka, gives teachers the possibility of gaining a formal qualification in global education.
The University of Colombo, in collaboration with British Council Sri Lanka and Cambridge Education Foundation, has developed the diploma, providing GSP teachers with continuing professional development, enabling them to reflect on and develop their own learning through partnership work.
