It is extremely important that you and your partner school check the visa requirements well in advance and, where necessary, allow plenty of time for your visa to be processed.
In some countries visas can take up to 4-6 months to obtain.
GSP provides visa support letters to staff travelling under the Reciprocal Visit grants to complement letters from partner school(s).
If you are a UK school, you can download a visa support letter template now for your partner school’s colleagues travelling to the UK as part of your funded visits.
1. Please complete the template making sure that you send through the full names, visit dates and passport numbers of all travellers.
2. Send the letter as a word document to your GSP Regional Coordinator in the UK.
3. Your GSP Regional Coordinator will sign the letter and return it to you as a PDF document.
You are responsible for verifying the contents of the letter.
Specific visa guidance for teachers and students travelling from Bangladesh, Ghana, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Malawi, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, Zambia, Rwanda and Sierra Leone is available through GSP staff in some partner countries.
For visa guidance to travel to the UK from any other partner countries you can refer to the visa guidance provided by the UK Border Agency.
A Grant Handbook is now available to download. The Handbook includes information and guidance on the grant arrangements and reporting requirements for UK and Southern schools in receipt of a Reciprocal Visit Grant with a final report due on 1 December 2012. It also contains valuable information on the support provided by the GSP programme during the funding period to make visits to and from your partner school easier.
