Departmental Board

The Departmental Board advises on and monitors the delivery of the Secretary of State’s strategy and policy priorities.
These include:

  • DFID’s Business Plan
  • The results set out in the Bilateral and Multilateral Aid Reviews and the Humanitarian Emergency Response Review.

The Departmental Board is chaired by the Secretary of State and meets quarterly in formal session. It also meets informally every week to review progress against the Business Plan.

Its members are: Secretary of State, Minister of State, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, House of Lords Spokesperson, Permanent Secretary, four Director Generals and the non Executive Directors.

Its secretariat is provided by the Permanent Secretary’s office and its work is governed by the Departmental Board Operating Framework.
