Biography: Joy Hutcheon

Joy Hutcheon is one of the five executives on the Management Board. She was appointed Acting Director General, Country Programmes in April 2011- and then as Director Country Programmes in October 2011. She is responsible for DFID’s programmes in Africa, South and East Asia and the Caribbean and Overseas Territories. Previously Joy was Director, East and Central Africa from August 2009 to April 2011.  Previous posts in DFID were as Head of DFID’s Office in Zambia from 2007 to 2009, Director of Communications, Research and Evaluation from 2005 to 2007 and Head of Western Asia Department, overseeing DFID's programmes in Pakistan and Afghanistan, from 2003 to 2005. Before joining DFID in 2003, Joy also worked in the Cabinet Office, the Office of Passenger Rail Franchising and the Home Office.
