The Development Committee comprises:
The Director General for Policy and International will chair the DC. In his/her absence one of the other DGs or the Director of Finance and Development Policy will chair the meeting
Members will nominate one alternate who can attend in their absence.
The Development Committee has an agreed quorum, details of which are set out below: Quorum - 6 members (1 Director, 1 Director's alternate, 4 Chief Advisers or alternates) + DC Chair
A full DC is taken to mean 16 members, of which 6 are Directors and 10 Chief Advisers. This recognises that we are unlikely to have more than 1 DG at a meeting and that Heads of Departments are not full members (ex officio). The DG for Policy and International will chair the meeting unless s/he is unavailable. In this case either the DG for Country Programmes or the DG for Corporate Performance will take his/her place. If a situation arises whereby no DG is available to chair a meeting, the Director of Finance and Development Policy will take his/her place.
The quorum guarantees that there will be a degree of representation from across the office, which will make discussions more focused and informed. It is structured, however the number of members required is low which makes it achievable.
