The Public Enquiry Point is the initial point of contact for information on the work of the whole of the Department. The telephone helpline is open from 10am-4pm (GMT/BST), Monday to Friday. An answerphone is available at other times.

We will do our best to provide you with the information you need. In return, we ask that you treat our staff politely and with respect.

Our enquiry staff may end a phone conversation if the caller uses inappropriate language or aggressive behaviour and if it continues, will end the call.

If you have an enquiry about a specific project on our projects database, please email our Public Enquiry Point enquiry@dfid.gov.uk or call 0845 300 4100. Please include the project’s unique identifying number (either a 6 digit or 9 digit reference) along with your query.

If you are a journalist and have a media enquiry please contact the DFID Press Office on tel: 020 7023 0600 or e-mail pressoffice@dfid.gov.uk.  A press officer is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

If you receive a suspicious email purporting to be from DFID please check the authenticity with the Public Enquiry Point using the email address enquiry@dfid.gov.uk  so that we can investigate.
